April 23 The formative San Diego – Panama City Sister City Association steps into the sunshine with their first public event – “The Kiss of Oceans” reception at the San Diego History Center. For more information contact Steering Committee Chair, David Edick Jr edick@sandisca.org
April 24 – May 2 SanDISCA hosts 5 young marine biologists and oceanographers from Vladivostok, Russia through a grant provided by the Open World Leadership Program . SanDISCA will arrange their week-long professional program and as required has hired a professional interpreter. We are looking for home hosts for our visitors – a requirement of the program. Our delegation will spend their first Saturday in San Diego bonding at SeaWorld! For more information contact David Edick Jr edick@sandisca.org

May 9th - San Diego/Alcalá holds its ¨Don Quixote in the Park Day on May 9th at the international
patio in the central area of the international cottages. Students from Longfellow Elementary School – and others – will conduct a public reading of “Don Quixote” - in Spanish! Noon - 2:00pm fundraiser featuring amazing paella and a silent auction. In the afternoon, we plan to present a play for children and adults based on the Cervantes novel called ¨Clown Quixote,¨ a didactic as well as entertaining piece written and produced by two Spanish dramatists who are spending a year (or two) in Southern California.

August 15th - SanDISCA will host SCI
SanDISCA hosts the Sister Cities of Southern California conference (http://socalsistercities.org/)

September 25th - San Diego/Alcalá - Spanish regional cuisine in collaboration with Spanish restaurants in the region.

October 9th - San Diego/Alcalá - Restaurants in the region. Maybe a paella cook-off at the (House of Spain) as well as Spanish theatre and/or traditional regional Spanish dances and music. This event will involve groups from San Diego as well as other cities: Sardana Catalana Basque dancers, jotas, and of course, flamenco in the central patio area.
October 10 - San Diego/Alcalá Fiesta with an international parade of nations with flags, national costumes, and music organized with HPR and Sister Cities International. Around the international cottages area , up toward Plaza de Panama and back to international cottages.
October 11 - San Diego/Alcalá. The House of Spain holds their traditional Lawn Program at Central Patio. An opportunity for more performances, along with Juanita Franco´s group.
October 12 - San Diego/Alcalá HOS and the House of Spain will sponsor an open house and reception open to the San Diego community on the occasion of the National Day of Spain. At the House of Spain in Balboa Park.
